CAPP utilizes a competitive funding process for programs offered by area non-profit organizations that reduce the impact of poverty among Alachua County residents.
Non-governmental, non-profit, 501(c)(3) agencies/organizations with a physical location in Alachua County that offer programs that serve to reduce the impact of poverty among residents of Alachua County.
Funding priorities are established by the Board of County Commissioners and currently include services targeted to the following: adequate food, safe affordable housing, quality child care and education, quality healthcare.
The amount of CAPP funding is
authorized yearly by the County
Commission. Historically, funding has
generally increased over the years as a result of an
increase in the County's overall general revenue and
the County Commission's continued support of the
program.
The Request For Application (RFA) process requires a written application submitted on-line by agencies whose proposal(s) must meet minimum eligibility criteria for consideration. Qualifying applications are then assessed by a citizens' grant review committee, which in turn presents its funding recommendations to the County Commission. The County Commission approves which programs to fund and at what amount in a publicly noticed meeting.

Grant applications may not be submitted until the availability of grant application materials is announced. Announcements are advertised in the Gainesville Sun newspaper, among other area newsprint media; on this website; on public access TV Channel 12; and via targeted e-mail communications.
