Alachua County is contracted with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) to ensure petroleum fuel storage tank systems are operated and maintained in compliance with State and Federal regulations. EPD conducts compliance inspections in Alachua, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Clay, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Madison, Marion, Putnam, Suwannee, Taylor, and Union Counties.
The primary focus of inspections is to prevent discharges and protect the State's groundwater from being contaminated with petroleum fuel products, and to assist facility owners with keeping their fuel storage systems in compliance.
